Overview:

The Vice President of Quality and Reliability will report directly to a Senior Vice President at Qualcomm and will oversee a range of critical activities aimed at enhancing quality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall Quality strategy for Qualcomm, establishing quality objectives and metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Directly manage various teams including Customer Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Systems, Reliability Engineering, and Software Quality Engineering.
  • Facilitate all quality-related communications with clients, ensuring a thorough understanding of their requirements and expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with sales and engineering teams to integrate customer needs into Quality Management practices.
  • Design and implement top-tier quality systems that cater to customer needs, including Global RMA systems, customer information requests, and quarterly quality assessments.
  • Oversee Supplier Quality Management to guarantee the quality performance of essential suppliers, establishing metrics and conducting quarterly reviews.
  • Promote Supplier Quality initiatives, including audits and performance evaluations, while encouraging suppliers to adopt best practices in statistical process control and failure mode effects analysis.
  • Collaborate with Product Technology and Operations to define and execute Quality strategies and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry quality standards, providing guidance to various departments to enhance processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct audits of all quality activities to ensure adherence to internal standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance quality awareness across the organization.
  • Establish qualification requirements and procedures to ensure product reliability, focusing on timely completion of reliability qualifications as part of the new product introduction process.
  • Define ongoing reliability standards during high-volume manufacturing phases.
  • Ensure exceptional product quality throughout the lifecycle, integrating quality into new product introduction and high-volume manufacturing processes.
  • Manage all aspects of the "Cost of Quality" across business processes, technology, and operations, encompassing product development, supply chain, and manufacturing.
  • Contribute to corporate strategies regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or a related technical field.
  • Over 15 years of experience in Quality and Reliability within complex technologies and high-volume manufacturing sectors.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or a related technical field.
  • 20 to 25+ years of experience in Quality and Supplier Quality within a manufacturing context.
  • Experience in establishing and managing Quality Control processes from Supplier Quality Engineering to Manufacturing Process Control.
  • Proven expertise in implementing Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001:2000, Statistical Process Control, and Quality auditing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including methodologies such as Six Sigma and root cause analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry quality standards and processes.
