Overview:
Reporting directly to a Senior Vice President at Qualcomm, the Vice President of Quality and Reliability will oversee a range of critical functions aimed at enhancing product quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and define quality objectives and metrics, ensuring continuous improvement across Qualcomm's operations.
- Directly manage various teams including Customer Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Systems, Reliability Engineering, and Software Quality Engineering.
- Facilitate all quality-related communications with clients, ensuring a deep understanding of their requirements and expectations.
- Work collaboratively with sales and engineering teams to integrate customer needs into the Quality Management framework.
- Establish and implement comprehensive quality systems that cater to customer needs, including Global RMA systems, customer information requests, and quarterly quality assessments.
- Oversee Supplier Quality Management to guarantee the performance standards of key suppliers, setting metrics and conducting quarterly reviews.
- Drive initiatives in Supplier Quality Management, including audits and performance evaluations, while promoting best practices in statistical process control and failure mode effects analysis.
- Collaborate with Product Technology and Operations to formulate and maintain quality strategies and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with industry quality standards such as ISO and ISO26262, providing guidance to enhance processes and drive continuous improvement.
- Audit quality activities to confirm adherence to internal and customer-specific requirements.
- Develop training programs to promote quality awareness throughout the organization.
- Establish qualification criteria and procedures to ensure product reliability, emphasizing timely completion of product reliability qualifications during the new product introduction process.
- Define ongoing reliability standards during high-volume manufacturing.
- Deliver exceptional product quality throughout the lifecycle, integrating quality into both new product introduction and high-volume manufacturing processes.
- Account for all aspects of the "Cost of Quality" across business processes, technology, and operations, encompassing product development, supply chain, and manufacturing.
- Contribute to corporate strategies regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in Quality and Reliability within complex technology and high-volume manufacturing sectors.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or a related technical field.
- 20 to 25+ years of experience in Quality or Supplier Quality within a manufacturing context.
- Experience in developing and managing Quality Control processes from Supplier Quality Engineering to Manufacturing Process Control.
- Proven expertise in implementing Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001:2000 and statistical process control.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including methodologies such as Six Sigma and root cause analysis.
- Deep knowledge of industry quality standards and processes.
