Job Summary

Tufts Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing and interpreting cardiac ultrasound examinations, providing high-quality patient care, and collaborating with cardiologists to ensure accurate diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret cardiac ultrasound examinations, including echocardiograms, Doppler studies, and other specialized procedures.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists to ensure accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including explaining procedures, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal performance and image quality.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain a teaching file system to support the training of new sonographers and interns.
  • Assist in maintaining and ordering supplies, as designated by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Science or related field.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification.
  • One year of clinical experience in cardiac sonography.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Science or related field.
  • Two years of clinical experience in cardiac sonography.
  • Experience with echocardiography and other specialized cardiac ultrasound procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, occasional sitting, and walking.
  • Lifting of 30-35 pounds.
  • Pushing, pulling, and moving stretchers and ultrasound machines.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating transducers, ultrasound equipment, and computer keyboard.
  • Good hearing and vision required for performing examinations, observing patients, and reading monitors and documents.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to perform exams in Doppler, M-mode, B-scan, and real-time modalities.
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time under various conditions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
