Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer-Echo Tech Level I to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a key member of our Non-Invasive Cardiology department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality echocardiograms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform 2-dimensional, color Doppler, and Doppler echocardiograms with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Interpret test results and notify referring physicians or house officers of preliminary reports.
  • Assist in scheduling cardiac ultrasound procedures for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Manage inventory of supplies in the Echo Lab and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide excellent patient care and communication, ensuring patients are comfortable and informed throughout the examination process.
  • Record and review test results for accuracy, preparing test reports and utilizing electronic medical records and reporting systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cardiac ultrasound technology and techniques, attending seminars and meetings as approved by the echo supervisor.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, but an Associate degree or equivalent program with a Cardiovascular Technologist Certificate is required.
  • ARDCS or CCI certification is mandatory.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a major teaching institution as an Echo technician is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics is essential.
Skills and Abilities
  • High degree of technical expertise with knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics.
  • Analytical ability to perform and analyze complex cardiac pathologies by echocardiography.
  • Ability to produce initial interpretations for referring physicians, with complex cases reviewed with the echo supervisor.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to work with ultrasound transducers and delicate equipment panels.
  • Good understanding of equipment function and ultrasound physics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, staff, and physicians.
