Position Overview

This position is centered on delivering clinical and medical support to patients, particularly in assessing physiological conditions related to blood circulation and pressure within the coronary arteries and heart chambers through advanced imaging and diagnostic methodologies. As a Senior Cardiac Catheterization Technologist, you will leverage your specialized expertise to enhance patient care and contribute to scientific and laboratory functions. This role necessitates foundational knowledge and experience in the domain, operating under moderate supervision while addressing routine challenges with occasional need for interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Senior Cardiac Catheterization Technologist at Tufts Medical Center, you will be instrumental in assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, significantly impacting the quality of patient care. Collaborating with the healthcare team, you will adhere to the center's established policies, procedures, and objectives while exemplifying advanced clinical practice and a commitment to continuous learning in the evolving field of interventional cardiology.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited institution in Cardiovascular Technology OR
  • Degree from an accredited institution in Radiologic Technology with Radiologic Technologist (RT) Certification OR
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification

Must obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification

Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing the cardiac catheterization laboratory for procedures and assisting in room turnover.
  • Supporting patient preparation, equipment setup, and operation during procedures.
  • Documenting procedure details accurately and ensuring adherence to radiation safety protocols.
  • Contributing to quality assurance initiatives and assisting in the management of supplies and equipment.
  • Participating in staff training, maintaining a sterile environment, and effectively responding to emergencies.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in restricted environments, stand under surgical lighting, and manage heavy equipment.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, radiation, and infectious substances, necessitating protective gear.
  • Frequent lifting, patient interactions, and high-pressure situations in the operating room.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Willingness to engage in on-call rotations.
  • Ability to perform under pressure with meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to patient safety.
  • Knowledge of cardiac catheterization procedures and excellent communication skills.
