Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

This role emphasizes the execution of various ultrasound tasks:

  • Utilizes advanced ultrasound technology to capture images of internal anatomical structures.
  • Functions as a clinical technologist with specialized expertise acquired through vocational education, training, and hands-on experience.
  • Primarily applies skills in patient care and scientific/laboratory environments.
  • Operates under moderate supervision, addressing routine challenges while occasionally requiring interpretation or deviation from established protocols.
  • Under the guidance of a supervising clinical leader, conducts all phases of cardiac ultrasound studies in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timeliness essential for cardiological diagnoses.
  • Independently performs and interprets a variety of diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures, including m-mode, 2-D real-time imaging, and Doppler techniques (pulsed, CW, and color).
Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification within one year of employment.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Science.
  • Experience in performing cardiac ultrasound examinations, including echocardiograms in various clinical settings.
  • Ability to assist physicians in gathering and documenting data for research initiatives.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Familiarity with the charging and billing processes.
Technical Skills

Proficient in:

  • Preparing patients and explaining procedures to patients and their families.
  • Acquiring and exporting three-dimensional echocardiographic data for detailed cardiac assessment.
  • Contributing technical insights to diagnostic reports and participating in echo reading sessions.
  • Maintaining quality control and assurance for all ultrasonic equipment.
  • Training new sonographers and interns under supervision.
Work Environment

This position requires:

  • Manual dexterity for operating ultrasound equipment and computers.
  • Good hearing and vision to perform examinations and monitor patient conditions.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, physicians, and other healthcare personnel.
