Job Description

Role Summary

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Biosecurity Preparedness Manager. This is a critical position that requires strong policy skills, analytical ability, and stakeholder engagement experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead policy and regulatory projects to support effective exotic animal disease and plant biosecurity emergency responses.
  • Lead effective project planning, delivery, governance, and risk management.
  • Provide timely and high-quality advice to Ministerial and executive management on animal and plant biosecurity matters.
  • Engage and consult with key partners across the department and the agriculture system to deliver project outcomes.
  • Develop and motivate a high-performing team while promoting a positive work culture.

Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary degree is highly desirable.
  • A sound understanding of exotic animal disease and plant biosecurity responses, agriculture, and/or biosecurity issues is required.

Working Arrangements

This is a fixed-term position available for a period until 30 June 2026. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
