Job Summary

The Human Resources Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Human Resources department at the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS). This position serves as the primary point of contact for employees, applicants, and guests, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources department, including data entry, record-keeping, and document management.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting job openings, reviewing applications, and conducting phone screens and interviews.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding, including scheduling physical examinations, coordinating orientation, and auditing payroll/HRIS system entries.
  • Respond to employment verifications and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining the Human Resources Jobs Email and responding promptly and accurately to all inquiries.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience with ADP HRIS system (Enterprise or Vantage) is desirable.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in an office environment, with occasional travel to external locations and agencies. The successful candidate must be able to fulfill the physical demands of the job, including walking, stooping, sitting, bending, reaching for overhead files, and occasional lifting (up to 15 pounds).

Salary and Benefits

The anticipated starting pay for this position is between $48,000 - $56,000. This range represents the expected starting salaries for new hires, typically within the lower to mid-portion of the overall salary range, which encompasses the full potential earnings for the role. Salary offers are based on factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, and relevant experience of the successful candidate, while taking into account internal equity, budget constraints, and other market factors.
