Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Join The Salvation Army team as a Human Resources Generalist in San Diego. This role is responsible for coordinating HR duties, including administering HR practices, payroll, benefits maintenance, time and attendance systems, reports, and Worker Comp.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit Employee Personnel Action Notices (PANs) for New Hires, Terminations, and Salary/Status Changes through TSAMM.
  • Onboard new employees and ensure they attend Divisional New Hire orientation.
  • Maintain all employee files on site and conduct audits as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Assist the DHQ HR compliance Coordinator in processing Workers Compensation claims.
  • Ensure staff files are current and match with files at DHQ.
  • In partnership with line supervisors, ensure accuracy of payroll hours and submit completed payroll reports to DHQ Finance.
  • Work with DHQ HR to check for updates related to employee issues, TSA Policy and Procedure changes, and communicate the same to staff.
  • Respond to staff inquiries and direct them through appropriate channels.
  • Assist DHQ-HR with updating Program Director and Managers on employee-related matters of deficiencies and/or in need of corrective action plans.
  • Assist DHQ-HR in gathering fact-finding information when necessary.
  • Prepare and submit job posting requisitions to DHQ.
  • Work with DHQ Talent Acquisition Coordinator on recruitment needs throughout SD coordination.
  • Correct any payroll discrepancies with DHQ HR/Finance staff.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all HR general questions and concerns.

Requirements:

  • AA degree or two years' experience in an HR position preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent grammar with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Type 35wpm or more.
  • Bi-lingual, English and Spanish speaking preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate a computer, fax, and telephone.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
