The Opportunity

You will play a crucial role within a team of experts collaborating closely with external clients to develop effective predictive models, assess and validate the behavior of production models, and ensure peak model performance. There will be opportunities to assist the internal technology team in model development and engage in sales activities related to model evaluations for various client settings.

What You'll Contribute
  • Developing and assessing predictive and decision models for deployment in production systems or for research purposes. This involves analyzing extensive historical data, determining modeling suitability, conducting data cleansing and filtering, identifying patterns, creating variables, selecting sampling criteria, generating performance definitions, and experimenting with various algorithms and models to analyze performance for optimal algorithm selection.
  • Supporting model implementations by conducting production data validations and analyzing score distributions of models in production.
  • Utilizing data mining methodologies for comprehensive analysis of model behavior and providing support for client meetings, model construction, and pre-sales activities.
  • Managing projects within time and resource constraints, collaborating with other teams at FICO (software, IT, product management, and product support) to deliver high-quality support that facilitates the integration and deployment of analytics software and solutions.
  • Potentially participating in post-implementation support.
What We're Seeking
  • Master's degree in statistics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, or operations research (PhD preferred).
  • Relevant industry experience in predictive modeling and data mining, or a PhD with no related experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Perl/Python, C, C++, or Java, along with familiarity with fundamental software design principles and coding standards.
  • Experience in analyzing large datasets and applying data-cleaning techniques, as well as performing statistical analyses to understand dataset structures.
  • Preferred knowledge of concepts such as Bayesian networks, PCA, independent component analysis, linear and logistic regressions, inference, estimation, experimental design, neural networks, and SVM.
