Job Overview

Location: On-Site, Richmond, VA.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will be adept at conducting in-person interviews and engaging with various stakeholders to discern their requirements and convert them into actionable tasks.

In this role, you will:

  • Foster collaboration, guidance, and mentorship, ensuring the Scrum Team adheres to Agile methodologies.
  • Organize and facilitate Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Retrospectives, Sprint Demonstrations, Story Refinement, and Release Planning.
  • Work with your team to establish a clear vision and develop a product roadmap that aligns with this vision.
  • Assist the product owner in managing the product backlog, prioritizing tasks based on evolving requirements and project timelines.
  • Create an environment conducive to team effectiveness, proactively removing barriers to progress.
  • Shield the team from external interruptions and distractions.
  • Maintain strong relationships between the team, product owner, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a Lean-Agile mindset through servant leadership.
  • Identify potential challenges, assess risks, and propose effective solutions.
  • Monitor and report on team velocity and other relevant project metrics.
  • Encourage and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the Scrum Team's productivity.
  • Collaborate with product owners and end-users to deliver tangible business value.
  • Ensure adherence to core Agile principles and compliance with organizational Agile standards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Agile software development lifecycle, with hands-on experience collaborating with development teams.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience as a Scrum Master, demonstrating a solid grasp of Agile values, principles, methodologies, and the development lifecycle.
  • Proficient in identifying cross-team dependencies and optimizing workflow.
  • Skilled in customer engagement, understanding their business practices, and managing expectations effectively.
  • Able to establish clear performance metrics and hold team members accountable while fostering engagement.
  • Capable of tracking team performance using appropriate metrics and promoting a high-performing Agile culture in collaboration with leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, mentoring, and servant leadership skills, with a proven track record of removing impediments.
  • Adept at foreseeing potential conflicts and facilitating positive resolutions.
  • Skilled in balancing competing demands related to quality, scope, and timelines.
  • Experienced in analyzing and documenting business and system processes.
