Position Overview

Salary: $44, $46,534.49 Annually DOQ

Role Summary:

The Recreation Therapy Program Coordinator will oversee the development and management of recreation and leisure initiatives tailored for individuals with disabilities. This role encompasses various coordinator positions, including Collaborative Coordinator and Inclusion Coordinator, focusing on assessing, planning, executing, and evaluating programs that enhance the quality of life for participants.

Collaborative Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary programming coordinator for collaborative efforts, including adult day and afterschool activities.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and placement of staff for collaborative programs.
  • Supervise and assess staff performance in collaborative settings.
  • Function as a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) and ensure compliance with training regulations.
  • Advocate for community access to recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Inclusion Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in recreational programs within member park districts.
  • Conduct assessments and observations to support inclusion requests.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly statistical reports.
  • Implement diverse programs and assist in organizing training sessions.
  • Supervise part-time Inclusion Aides and provide necessary training.

Support Services Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage seasonal recreation programs to cater to the needs of participants.
  • Oversee part-time and seasonal staff, ensuring effective training and management.
  • Maintain employee records and submit regular reports to management.
  • Conduct assessments of staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Assist in recruitment efforts through community engagement.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field. A solid understanding of working with individuals with disabilities is essential. Candidates must hold or be eligible for the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, exempt position with a typical schedule of Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required.
