The Northwest Special Recreation Association is seeking a dedicated Recreation Therapy Coordinator to oversee and enhance recreational programs for individuals with disabilities. This role is pivotal in assessing, planning, and implementing inclusive leisure activities tailored to meet the diverse needs of our community members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary coordinator for collaborative programming, ensuring effective integration of services for adults and children with disabilities.
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff, fostering a supportive environment for both employees and participants.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and participant satisfaction.
- Develop and implement individualized behavior plans to support participants in achieving their recreational goals.
- Advocate for the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in community recreational activities, representing the organization at various meetings.
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance program offerings and accessibility.
- Facilitate the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in recreational programs across member park districts.
- Conduct observations and assessments to ensure program effectiveness and participant engagement.
- Provide training and support to Inclusion Aides, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field, along with a strong understanding of working with individuals with disabilities. Certification from the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation (NCTRC) is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, exempt position with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, though some evenings and weekends may be required.
