NDE Quality Assurance Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
- A manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled individual to conduct Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) on ASME Section III and Section VIII vessels, as well as components for nuclear facilities. Candidates should have experience with relevant codes and standards such as ASME, AWS, and ISO.
- Compliance with safety protocols and guidelines is mandatory at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Conduct specific inspections and evaluations to determine acceptance or rejection based on established procedures, documenting results accordingly.
- Perform NDE examinations alongside receipt and in-process inspections of materials intended for fabrication.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of necessary tools and equipment.
- Ensure that inspection and measuring equipment is properly calibrated and approved for use.
- Assist production teams in preparing materials and components for inspection as needed.
- Provide training to other personnel as directed by management.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to read small text and distinguish colors as per the Jaeger I chart and Ishihara Test Chart.
- Capability to wear fall protection equipment while working at heights.
- Physical ability to navigate confined spaces, including crawling and climbing, often requiring the use of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work may occur in various environmental conditions, which can include heat, cold, dirt, grease, moisture, and noise.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, is essential.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced team environment.
Support Structure:
- Reports to Quality Control Manager, collaborates with Shop Managers, Quality Control Supervisors, Production Supervisors, and Product Line Managers.
Educational Background:
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of inspection-related experience.
- Preferred: 2 years of inspection experience along with 2 years of college in a technical or engineering discipline.
- Preferred: 1 year of inspection experience with a degree in engineering or science from an accredited institution.
Qualifications:
- Must hold qualifications and certifications as per ASNT-TC-1A in at least two of the following NDT methods:
- Visual Examination (VT)
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Preferred candidates will have certification as a Level II in Visual Examination (VT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Driver's License is required.
- Previous Level II Certification to ASNT-TC-1A, including documented training experience.
