Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • A manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled individual to conduct Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) on ASME Section III and Section VIII vessels, as well as components for nuclear facilities. Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as ASME, AWS, and ISO is preferred. The role may involve occasional overnight travel and off-shift work.
  • Compliance with safety protocols and guidelines is mandatory at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Execute specific inspections and evaluations to determine acceptance or rejection based on established procedures, and accurately document results.
  • Conduct NDE examinations in conjunction with incoming and in-process inspections of materials intended for fabrication.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of inspection tools and equipment.
  • Ensure that inspection and measuring equipment is properly calibrated and in good working condition, and that all inspection and testing procedures are approved.
  • Assist production teams in preparing materials and components for inspection as needed.
  • Provide training to other personnel as directed by management.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read standard vision charts at a minimum distance of 12 inches and differentiate colors as per the Ishihara Test Chart.
  • Personnel performing inspections at heights must be capable of using required fall protection gear.
  • Must be physically able to navigate confined spaces, including climbing into vessels and towers, while wearing necessary safety equipment such as Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environments may vary, with conditions that can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, or noisy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively with others.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, is essential.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic team setting.

Support Structure:

  • Reports to Quality Control Manager, collaborates with Shop Managers, Quality Control Supervisors, Production Supervisors, and Product Line Managers.

Educational Background:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of inspection-related experience.
  • Preferred: 2 years of inspection experience along with 2 years of college in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Preferred: 1 year of inspection experience with a degree in engineering or science from an accredited institution.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold qualifications and certifications in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A in at least two of the following NDT methods:
    • Visual Examination (VT)
    • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Preferred candidates will possess Certified Level II status in Visual Examination (VT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Previous Level II Certification to ASNT-TC-1A with documented training experience is necessary.
