Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Utilize engineering principles to enhance the efficiency of machinery, processes, and departmental expenditures, aiming for improved maintainability, reliability, and equipment availability, assessed through Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning
  • Oversee the planning, assessment, organization, and execution of designated installation, maintenance, and repair tasks while collaborating with various departments to minimize production downtime and ensure employee safety.
  • Implement and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), specifically utilizing SAP at our facility.
Coordination
  • Manage the maintenance project timeline (including rebuilds, minor OPEX projects, and scheduled downtime) by tracking project advancements, coordinating activities, and addressing issues.
  • Generate project status updates by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, along with recommending actions.
  • Engage with plant managers and supervisors to secure necessary resources for planning and executing maintenance projects.
Reliability Functions
  • Promote asset care and Total Productive Maintenance strategies.
  • Lead maintenance planning and process enhancement initiatives using reliability tools, facilitating root-cause analysis sessions.
  • Oversee the predictive maintenance program, including thermal scanning, ultrasonic testing, and vibration monitoring, to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Environmental teams to implement Best Maintenance Practices.
  • Conduct and lead Failure Mode Equipment Analysis (FMEA).
  • Examine predictive maintenance data to confirm the execution of appropriate preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Review engineering specifications and design modifications for process equipment to enhance reliability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for maintenance-related losses in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure timely completion of Professional Maintenance (PM) tasks to high-quality standards, working with the maintenance supervisor to develop PMs that enhance reliability.
  • Create and uphold standard operating and maintenance procedures, along with work instructions.
  • Maintain records of plant and individual equipment performance, preparing and updating data sheets, wiring diagrams, and flow charts essential for efficient plant operations.
  • Advise on the proper execution and documentation of repair and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Analyze and present accurate data from records to prepare reports and statistics supporting continuous reliability improvement.
Projects
  • Review projects for consistency and completeness.
  • Assist in managing capital projects as needed.
Communications
  • Maintain ongoing communication with all personnel involved in the project.
  • Schedule regular meetings with stakeholders to update them on project progress.
Personnel
  • Identify project staffing requirements through coordination with supervisors and managers.
  • Utilize staffing charts to monitor progress and keep the project on schedule.
  • Supervise project staff and may delegate technical oversight for specific tasks as part of Maintenance Engineer responsibilities.
Safety and Environmental

Continuously assess the workplace for safety issues and ensure that behavioral safety initiatives meet target levels.

  • Enforce good housekeeping practices, adhere to plant rules and safety regulations, and support Vallourec Star initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, and Safety Managers to coordinate any proposed changes using the change management system.
Cost
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production Managers regarding OPEX funding.
  • Provide input for the maintenance budget.
Training
  • Support Autonomous Maintenance by training operators and ensuring that basic equipment conditions are upheld throughout the plant, as well as providing training for operators and maintenance personnel.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficient understanding of TPM, root cause analysis, predictive and preventive maintenance systems, and visual plant concepts.
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to plan and organize effectively.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including a sense of ownership and results orientation.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing principles (can be acquired on the job).
  • Experience in a continuous manufacturing setting.
  • Proven ability to utilize analytical tools and problem-solving techniques.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving goals within a team-oriented environment.

  • Safety Management proficiency.
  • CAD skills.
  • Knowledge of Circuit Design (hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical).

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
