The role involves applying engineering principles to enhance the efficiency of machinery, operational processes, and departmental financial plans, aiming for improved maintainability, reliability, and equipment availability, which is assessed through Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning
- Oversee the planning, assessment, organization, and execution of designated installation, maintenance, and repair tasks while collaborating with various departments to minimize production downtime and ensure employee safety.
- Support and implement the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), specifically utilizing SAP.
- Maintain the maintenance project timeline (including rebuilds, minor OPEX projects, and scheduled downtime) by tracking project advancement, coordinating activities, and addressing issues.
- Generate project status updates by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, while suggesting actionable steps.
- Engage with plant managers and supervisors to secure necessary resources for planning and executing maintenance initiatives.
- Promote asset care and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies.
- Facilitate maintenance planning and procedural enhancements using reliability tools, including hands-on root-cause analysis.
- Oversee the predictive maintenance program, incorporating Thermal Scanning, Ultrasonic, and Vibration monitoring to ensure adherence to established standards.
- Collaborate with members of the Maintenance, Engineering, and Environmental teams to implement Best Maintenance Practices.
- Lead and conduct Failure Mode Equipment Analysis (FMEA).
- Examine predictive maintenance data to verify that appropriate preventative maintenance tasks are performed.
- Review engineering specifications and design modifications for process equipment to enhance reliability.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for maintenance-related losses in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.
- Ensure that Professional Maintenance (PM) is executed promptly and meets high-quality standards, working with the maintenance supervisor to develop PMs that enhance reliability.
- Create and maintain standard operating and maintenance procedures, along with work instructions.
- Document plant and individual equipment performance, preparing and maintaining data sheets, wiring diagrams, and flow charts essential for the efficient operation of plant machinery.
- Advise on the proper execution and documentation of repair and preventive maintenance activities.
- Analyze and present accurate data from records to prepare reports and statistics that support ongoing reliability improvements.
- Review the entire project for consistency and thoroughness.
- Assist in managing capital projects as necessary.
- Maintain ongoing communication with all personnel involved in the project.
- Schedule regular meetings with stakeholders to update them on project progress.
- Assess project staffing requirements in coordination with supervisors and managers.
- Utilize staffing charts to monitor and facilitate progress, ensuring the project remains on schedule.
- Manage and supervise project staff.
- Delegate technical supervision for specific tasks as needed, recognizing when assistance is required to meet timelines.
Continuously assess the workplace for safety issues and ensure that behavioral safety initiatives are met.
- Promote good housekeeping practices, enforce plant regulations, and support company safety initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, and Safety Managers to coordinate any proposed changes through the change management system.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Production Managers regarding OPEX funding.
- Provide input for the maintenance budget.
- Facilitate Autonomous Maintenance by training operators and ensuring that equipment is maintained in optimal condition throughout the facility, while also providing training for operators and maintenance staff.
- Proficient understanding of TPM, root cause analysis, predictive and preventive maintenance systems, and visual plant concepts.
- Exceptional communication abilities.
- Demonstrated capability to plan and organize effectively.
- Strong leadership qualities, including a sense of ownership and results-driven focus.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing principles (can be learned on the job).
