As part of our ongoing transformation to enhance our global influence and digital presence, NFPA seeks a dedicated Engineer to join our Industrial and Chemical Safety team. • Research and prepare for moderately complex technical challenges related to standards development across various projects.
  • Manage Technical Question Service (TQS) cases, ensuring responses meet established quality standards and are completed within designated timeframes.
  • Provide content creation and curation support for Technical Services as needed.
  • Embody the principles of The NFPA Way by demonstrating Passion, Boldness, Curiosity, Connection, and Ownership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in chemical engineering or industrial hygiene.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in engineering or industrial hygiene.
  • Preferred professional certification or licensure in a relevant field (e.g., Professional Engineer, Certified Industrial Hygienist).
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and terminology.
  • Advanced understanding of the technical subject area or industry.
  • Familiarity with the application of Codes and Standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in technical and business writing.
  • Proven public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Effective meeting facilitation abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse groups.
  • Capability to navigate and resolve complex situations with diplomacy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Detail-oriented with strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Adept at interpreting, applying, and communicating technical information.

The National Fire Protection Association is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing a workplace free from discrimination and harassment of any kind.
