Position Overview

The Clinical Support Specialist at CoreLife, in collaboration with Novant Health, plays a crucial role in delivering clinical and preventive counseling services to patients. This position emphasizes a comprehensive and cooperative approach to health management, specifically focusing on the treatment of overweight and obesity as a medical condition. Responsibilities are carried out under the guidance of the supervising Physician or medical provider present.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to manage all aspects of patient care, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Supports the medical provider by measuring vital signs, gathering patient information, updating medical records, conducting tests, and communicating effectively with patients to guarantee high-quality care.
  • Contributes to the formulation and execution of policies and procedures that impact patient care.
  • Fosters a collaborative relationship with the physician, Nurse Practitioner, Dietitian, behavioral health therapist, and exercise specialists involved in patient care.
  • Implements evidence-based practices to improve quality and cost-effectiveness for the patient population.

Specific Duties:

  • Maintains clear and effective communication with patients, demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
  • Welcomes patients and verifies their identity as per the identification policy.
  • Collects, documents, and reports the following vital information:
    • Temperature
    • Body composition
    • Weight
    • Height
    • Blood Pressure
    • Pulse
    • Oxygen saturation
    • Waist and Neck circumference
    • Chief complaint
  • Prepares the appropriate visit template and patient information as requested by the provider.
  • Explains the RMR machine to patients, conducts the RMR assessment, and generates the corresponding report.
  • Updates patient processing screens in the electronic medical record system.
  • Assists patients with clothing removal or positioning for assessments.
  • Practices hand hygiene consistently and ensures proper cleaning of exam rooms and equipment.
  • Adheres to infection prevention protocols.
  • Conducts point-of-care testing and venipuncture for laboratory sample collection.
  • Assists in stocking exam and procedure rooms as needed.
  • Provides support at the front desk when required.
  • Is prepared to initiate emergency protocols for various situations.
  • Documents and completes telephone encounters under the provider's supervision.
  • Handles precertifications and prior authorizations for necessary medical services.
  • Scans relevant documents into the patient medical record.
  • Communicates test results and other important information to patients.
  • Works collaboratively to manage patient appointment schedules and flow.
  • Requests medical records from other healthcare providers as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a CMA, CCMA, CNA, or RMA through recognized organizations.
