Novant Health is looking for a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist plays a pivotal role in the healthcare team at Novant Health by fostering a genuine, personalized connection with patients and their chosen support network. This role involves collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate a tailored care plan that promotes optimal health or facilitates a dignified end-of-life experience.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist employs the best available scientific evidence and compassion to guide patients through their health journeys.This position entails accepting responsibility, authority, and accountability for the management and delivery of care in alignment with current policies and procedures.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is mandatory.
If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired, or lapsed for five years or more, and you have not been licensed in another state during that time, successful completion of a Board-approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license.
To be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
Experience:
Preferred: One year of relevant experience.
Licensure/Certification:
Current RN licensure in the appropriate state is required. Completion of NC state-approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility-specific) within three months of hire is mandatory.
Additional Skills Required:
Ability to care for patients with Behavioral Health needs across various age groups within the facility.
Proficiency in establishing therapeutic rapport while prioritizing safety, managing violent patients, and responding appropriately in psychiatric crises is essential. Familiarity with both violent and non-violent restraint techniques per policy and procedure is necessary.
Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
Skills in intervening therapeutically for behavior patterns exhibited by patients with acute mental illnesses, substance use disorders, personality disorders, or developmental disabilities are required.
Knowledge of psychiatric medications, their side effects, treatment interventions, psychiatric diagnoses, mental health concepts, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches is crucial.
