Position Overview:
Mercy Flights Inc is seeking applications for a part-time Staff Accountant (0.75 FTE).
Role Summary:
The Staff Accountant will acquire a diverse range of accounting expertise related to the financial and accounting operations of the organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing accounts payable, processing payroll, preparing journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual closures, conducting bank reconciliations, and performing other related tasks.
Work Schedule: 0.75 FTE, 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This position is hybrid, requiring some office attendance as necessary. For exceptional candidates, a fully remote option may be considered, limited to specific regions.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Examine general ledger accounts and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting journal entries along with accruals, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Conduct account analyses and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations.
- Collaborate with team members to review all procedures related to financial transactions.
- Assist department leaders with various financial transactions and topics to provide effective solutions.
- Support and act as a backup for the accounts payable process, which includes accurately coding and entering invoices, processing payments, liaising with vendors, reconciling vendor statements, and working with internal staff and managers.
- Review and authorize invoices for proper documentation and account coding.
- Assist and serve as backup for the bi-weekly payroll process, including auditing and calculating time clock records, entering payroll and insurance deductions, and other payroll-related tasks.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- A minimum of three (3) years of direct accounting experience is required.
- Experience with accounting software is advantageous.
- Solid understanding and working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is essential.
- Proficiency in personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel (intermediate to advanced level), and general ledger processing software.
- Advanced understanding of accounting concepts and principles.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining proactive communication with direct supervisors.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
