Project Accountant Job Description

Cambridge Systematics is seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our Accounting Department, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial data to support the management and safeguarding of company assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce project draft invoices and communicate with project managers to gain approval
  • Assemble final invoices in compliance with client policies and requirements
  • Perform project financial analysis for project managers as needed
  • Prepare project close-out documents as required by contract requirements

Billed and Unbilled Analysis:

  • Manage unbilled costs monthly for all projects assigned, including monthly analysis, reporting, and resolution of unbillable costs
  • Manage billed costs, including collections activities and monthly status reporting to management
  • Reconcile discrepancies between invoices and client payments

Fiduciary Responsibility:

  • Focus on the safeguarding of company assets
  • Maintain confidentiality with all financial documents and sensitive company and employee information
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation with strong attention to detail
  • Accountable for knowledge of and compliance with GAAP and company accounting policy
  • Maintain and adhere to internal control structure

Requirements:

  • 0-2 years of applicable experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong time management and communication skills and ability to meet deadlines
