Job Summary:

The Senior Project Accountant will provide high-quality financial services to the project, including job cost analysis, reporting, contract compliance, billings, and requisition/invoice processing. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with experience working on projects for public entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and mentor Project Accountant team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and drive proactive collection efforts to ensure timely payment from clients.
  • Assist project accountants in ensuring jobs are reconciled accurately and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate job audits with project accountants and accounting manager to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Work on special projects as directed by the Controller or CFO, such as analyzing financial data and providing recommendations for process improvements.
  • Respond to all financial inquiries in an accurate and timely manner, providing clear and concise information to stakeholders.
  • Ensure project setup financial/accounting requirements are complete, including kickoff meetings, forms, and budgets.


Requirements:

  • Exceptional time-management skills to ensure deadlines are met while providing accurate deliverables.
  • Must be detail-oriented, flexible, and able to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Must display initiative and independent thinking, with a strong ability to analyze complex financial data and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or related degree.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office required, with intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, index and match.
  • Experience with Timberline, Prolog, or COINS software a plus.
  • Experience working on projects for public entities preferred.
  • Construction industry and/or project accounting experience required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job sites are often hot, loud, and generally a hazardous environment.
