We are in search of a seasoned Lead Leave Management Strategist to enhance our Benefits team at Blue Origin. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in defining the future of our leave and accommodation initiatives. Your meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to safety will be vital in advancing our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Lead Leave Management Strategist, your duties will encompass, but are not limited to:

Program Leadership and Compliance

  • Design, execute, and uphold comprehensive leave and accommodation strategies that align with the needs of Blue's workforce while adhering to relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on leave and accommodation policies, collaborating closely with Legal and HR leadership to ensure effective policy administration.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to promote uniformity and efficiency of leave programs across all Blue locations.

Operations and Administration

  • Oversee the Workday Absence system as the Product Manager, driving enhancements and improvements.
  • Create and sustain resources, training materials, and communications related to leave and accommodation for employees and managers. Facilitate training sessions for managers and HR Business Partners on their specific leave responsibilities.
  • Serve as the escalation point for leave and accommodation inquiries, addressing issues with promptness.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Establish metrics to analyze leave and accommodation data, utilizing employee feedback to recommend program enhancements.
  • Employ reporting tools to ensure compliance with FMLA and other statutory leave regulations.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate regular operational metrics for all leave and accommodation initiatives to assess program effectiveness, vendor performance, and employee engagement.

Vendor Relations

  • Manage relationships with external leave administrators, ensuring consistent communication of program updates across all locations.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage vendor capabilities for process enhancements, improved employee experiences, and cost efficiencies.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with established service level agreements.
  • Participate in vendor selection, negotiation, and annual renewal processes in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Benefits.

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field along with 10+ years of experience in managing leave and accommodation programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of leave laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADAAA, EEOC, HIPAA, ERISA, DOL, Section 125, USERRA, and various federal, state, and local leave laws).
  • Proven experience in managing time off and leave processes in Workday or similar HR systems, with an understanding of the impact on benefits and payroll.
  • Experience with HR program management, project management, and case management tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, quality-focused, and results-oriented.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
