Merritt Island, Florida, United States Blue Origin Full time

Overview:

At Blue Origin, our vision encompasses the future of humanity living and working in space, benefiting life on Earth. We are dedicated to creating safe, reusable, and cost-effective space vehicles and systems, fostering a culture rooted in safety, collaboration, and inclusivity.

This position is pivotal in the development and operational phases of New Glenn, a heavy-lift launch vehicle designed for regular transport of personnel and cargo to orbit and beyond. With a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is set to revolutionize access to space.

Role Summary:

As an operations integrator, you will become the subject matter expert for the New Glenn Third Stage, overseeing its lifecycle from integrated testing to flight support. Our compact team of dedicated professionals values ownership and accountability, and we seek an individual who can define and uphold operational standards for their subsystem.

Your responsibilities will encompass all facets of subsystem operations, including CONOPS, functional architecture, components, software, and their interactions. You will track the development of hardware and autonomous software, ensuring that lessons learned are integrated into the operational framework of your subsystem on the flight vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the formulation of detailed CONOPS and operational requirements for pre-launch and flight activities.
  • Establish operational constraints for the safe handling and effective functioning of the subsystem.
  • Collaborate with integrated test, launch operations, and autonomous flight operations teams to embed operational constraints into procedures and flight plans.
  • Provide real-time engineering solutions during integrated testing and launch operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Over 10 years of proven experience in analysis, design, testing, and operations related to launch systems.
  • Extensive experience with launch system operations.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and executing integrated tests or operating launch vehicles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of subsystem domains.
  • Ability to navigate partially defined requirements and evolving criteria.
  • Commitment to Blue Origin's mission of enabling millions to live and work in space.
  • Proven ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships, contributing to an inclusive culture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or legally admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a launch vehicle controller (in either front room or engineering back room).
  • Familiarity with cryogenic fluids and pressurized pneumatic systems.

Compensation:

The compensation range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Inclusivity Statement:

We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. If you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with every qualification, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and an Education Support Program.

Paid Time Off includes up to four weeks per year, plus company-paid holidays.
