This position is situated within the Lunar Permanence division. To advance Blue Origin's vision of enabling human presence in space, we are constructing the sustainable infrastructure necessary for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As a Senior Systems Engineer concentrating on Requirements and Design for the lunar lander system, you will take on the role of Responsible Engineer for Vehicle Requirements and Design. Your leadership will be pivotal in defining and crafting requirements and design documentation for the system, as well as in establishing processes and strategies for managing specifications, design parameters, and technical performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish requirements and design methodologies, including the necessary tools and infrastructure to realize your vision.
- Oversee the vehicle product and specification hierarchy.
- Manage and authorize changes to requirements, defining the change control procedures for modifications to requirements and design parameters.
- Oversee the definition of interface requirements and their verification processes.
- Comprehend and delineate the relationships and traceability among requirements, design parameters, technical budgets, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), program plans, and technical performance metrics.
- Formulate and implement plans for delivering requirements and design outputs, coordinating with Integrated Product Teams.
- Conduct compliance and traceability evaluations, effectively communicating key metrics and issues to program leadership and stakeholders.
- Employ sound engineering and business judgment to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered to meet mission objectives.
- Collaborate with Lunar Systems Engineers to develop best practices and identify opportunities for standardized processes across projects.
- Exemplify, advocate for, and mentor others in the Blue Origin leadership principles.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to our mission: Enabling millions of people to live and work in space.
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
- Over 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering, including requirements definition, traceability, interface definition, design documentation, integration, verification, and validation.
- In-depth knowledge of space systems design and requirements.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate requirement products across diverse stakeholders and engineering disciplines.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
- Capacity to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and foster a culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading technical reviews for complex spaceflight or aviation systems.
- Familiarity with design and construction standards for space systems.
- Experience with lunar, deep space, or planetary missions.
- Expertise in requirements management and systems engineering tools.
Compensation Range:
Compensation varies by location, with ranges for CA applicants being $146,644.50-$205,302.30; CO applicants $134,838.38-$188,773.73; and WA applicants $146,644.50-$205,302.30.
