Job Summary:

Position Title: Natural/Organic Department Manager

FLSA Status: Salary

Reports To: Store Director/Department Director

The Natural/Organic Department Manager is accountable for the comprehensive management of the Natural/Organic department within the store, aiming to meet or surpass sales, gross profit, and labor objectives. Responsibilities encompass ordering, processing invoices, maintaining stock levels, managing inventory, and overseeing pricing strategies. This role also involves leading a team that provides customers with natural, chemical-free, and non-GMO options tailored to their dietary needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and organize departmental workload
  • Implement display standards effectively
  • Collaborate with in-store management and the Department Director
  • Manage inventory to minimize shrinkage
  • Deliver exceptional customer service
  • Address customer requests promptly
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and communicate with HR regarding scheduling issues
  • Ensure quality standards are consistently met
  • Maintain regular attendance and provide notice for absences
  • Perform additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential job duties effectively. The following qualifications are essential:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail food operations and merchandising
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective customer and associate interactions
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of safety protocols and company policies
  • Familiarity with equipment and procedures related to department operations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands and work environment described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the store, and perform bending and kneeling tasks
  • Capability to lift stock and perform repetitive tasks
  • Functional sensory abilities for monitoring store conditions and creating displays
  • Work primarily in a temperature-controlled environment

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time salaried position requiring flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
