Job Title: Operations Research Analyst I

The Operations Research Analyst I is a key role in our organization, responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to meet client requirements. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reports to a team lead and must be able to work independently.
  • Compiles information into reports to support regular daily and weekly meetings, as well as ongoing updates to DOT data database, Incident Reports, Monthly Progress Reports, daily program reporting, and Quarterly Program Reviews.
  • Participates in meetings with project stakeholders by completing read-aheads and presentations, and video/web/teleconferencing.
  • Manages knowledge of documents and artifacts.
  • Ensures quality control of project management documents and artifacts.
  • Applies mathematical or other modeling and optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions.
  • Identifies problems and risks, and engages in problem resolution.
  • Supports the preparation and evaluation of technical documents, papers, studies, analysis, and briefings in support of daily operational reporting for Federal Government clients.
  • Prepares and executes detailed analyses of project and program management activities.
  • Supports the development, tracking, and analysis of trends and data.
  • Supports the analysis of information from government agencies such as the DOT, state, and local transportation agencies.
  • Supports daily reporting to Federal Government clients.
  • Supports ad hoc reporting to Federal Government clients from compilation of data from outside sources.
  • Is proficient in the use of query and reporting analysis tools. Standardizes data collection by developing methods for database design and validation reporting.
  • Provides application analysis and data modeling design to collect data for centralized data warehouse.
  • Extracts data from databases and data warehouses for reporting and to facilitate sharing between multiple data systems.
  • Applies a wide range of analytical techniques related to operations research, such as quantitative and qualitative modeling, probability and statistics, simulation, optimization, and other operation research, policy analysis, and management science methods to examine issues and problems.
  • Performs statistical data collection requirement activities, such as preparing, processing, and coordinating ad hoc and standing collection requirements.
  • Designs presentation graphics and other tools to explain statistical research findings to other professionals and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years analytical or comparable experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience: TEAMS, Excel, PowerBI reporting required, including queries, data tables, and conditional formatting in Excel.
  • Ability to manage workload and schedule across multiple processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail for quality control of documents and artifacts.
  • Good communication skills and strong teamwork.

Physical Requirements: The position may require sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and the location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Possible lifting up to 50 lbs.
