Job Summary

The University of Redlands seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Procurement to provide strategic leadership and guidance in procurement and contracting practices. This key role will be responsible for ensuring the University's procurement activities are aligned with its strategic goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure the University receives high-quality and cost-efficient products and services.
  • Oversee the development and processing of solicitations, contract negotiations, and problem resolution associated with contracts or other purchases.
  • Establish and maintain internal policies and procedures related to procurement and contracting practices.
  • Develop and maintain a procurement and contracting platform and repository.
  • Monitor campus purchasing activities for compliance with University policies and supplier contracts.
  • Manage long-range purchase planning and needs analysis to simplify and standardize services and commodities.
  • Assess information and processing systems for effectiveness, ease of use, and reporting/analysis capabilities.
  • Identify strategic sourcing opportunities and implement initiatives or projects to support the University's strategic plan and priorities.
  • Establish cost optimization, performance indicators, and reports on progress regularly.
  • Continually analyze products and services offered by existing and prospective suppliers.
  • Negotiate with suppliers as needed to meet objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Employ data and metrics to manage the effectiveness of procurement and contract operations.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as price, quality, and delivery speed.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement performance to senior management and the Board of Trustees.
  • Supervise, plan, direct, and assign work of assigned staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of related experience with progressive leadership experience.
  • Proven RFP experience required, including demonstrated expertise in independently drafting and analyzing RFPs, PFQs, PRIs, contracts, business documents, and/or other agreements while assuring compliance with applicable laws, guidelines, and prime contract terms.
  • A valid California Class C driver's license with a good driving record is required.
