Job Summary

The University of Redlands seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Procurement to provide strategic leadership and guidance in procurement and contracting practices. This key role will ensure the effective management of procurement activities, compliance with University policies and procedures, and the development of strategic sourcing initiatives to support the University's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize procurement processes and reduce costs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to procurement staff, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Manage and negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with University goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including Federal and State rules and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, and University departments.
  • Supervise and manage procurement staff, providing guidance and support to ensure successful performance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of related experience with progressive leadership experience.
  • Proven RFP experience, including demonstrated expertise in drafting and analyzing RFPs, contracts, and business documents.
  • Excellent analytic skills, with the ability to evaluate options and make decisions independently.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents.
  • Superb oral and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with vendors and suppliers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement practices, including strategic sourcing and contract management.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment, with knowledge of University policies and procedures.
Working Conditions

This position will work in a standard office setting, with minimal environmental controls to ensure health and comfort. The incumbent will regularly sit for long periods, walk short distances, and use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines. The ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 20 pounds is required.
