Minimum Qualifications:


A Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydraulics and hydrology, complemented by five years of progressively responsible experience in civil or environmental engineering or a closely related discipline, including at least one year in a leadership or supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A Professional Engineer License is mandatory. Proficiency in computer applications and engineering software is essential.

Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are required; experience collaborating with engineers, developers, contractors, and the public is crucial, along with desired supervisory experience.


Additional Requirements:
A current valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.

According to the Virginia DMV point system, the record must not indicate a total of six or more demerit points within the last twenty-four months, nor a major violation resulting in six demerit points within the last thirty-six months.

Applicants must obtain and present out-of-state driving records at the time of the interview, reflecting at least three years of history and dated within thirty days of the interview. Pre-employment drug screening, an FBI criminal background check, and verification of education and degrees are required.

Responsibilities:


Evaluate and authorize engineering plans for residential projects, ensuring compliance with established engineering standards for erosion control, drainage, and stormwater management, including adherence to Virginia Stormwater Management Permit (VSMP) regulations, the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act, the Floodplain Management Ordinance, and other applicable state and local guidelines.

Engage in discussions with consulting engineers, developers, and contractors.
Address inquiries or concerns from the public regarding erosion control and related matters.
Foster the development and enhancement of skills among subordinates and colleagues.
Under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisor, oversee subordinate staff.
Perform additional duties as required.
