Position Overview

Branch Civil is seeking motivated Interns to participate in our Summer Internship initiative. We welcome applications from undergraduate students who are currently pursuing degrees in Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields. This program is structured to provide a nurturing and educational environment where interns can cultivate essential skills and attributes for a successful career in the construction sector. Key Responsibilities
  • Support Design-Build Coordinators to learn the processes involved in securing and managing Design-Build Projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams and designers to enhance and advance project design efforts.
  • Participate in Technical Work Group meetings and discussions with designers and stakeholders.
  • Assist with research and documentation related to specifications.
  • Help in preparing deliverables such as meeting minutes and schedules.
  • Engage in brainstorming sessions with project teams to identify solutions that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency while reducing costs.
  • Create working drawings and plans to support project teams.
  • Interns will take on real responsibilities within the Preconstruction, Project Management, and/or Field Supervision teams, receiving the necessary training and mentorship for their professional growth.
  • Interact with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Contribute to cost planning, scheduling, materials procurement, cost control, and quality assurance.
  • At the conclusion of the internship, interns will prepare a presentation summarizing their experiences at Branch.
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols and determine appropriate actions as needed.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a college program focused on Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with colleagues, clients, and the public.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Possess solid analytical and computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel; a valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Demonstrate a passion for making a positive impact in the industry.

Occasional visits to job sites and offices as assigned.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Regularly required to communicate effectively, stand, walk, use hands for various tasks, and reach with arms. Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, and perform other physical activities. Must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time internship typically requiring 40+ hours per week.
