Logistics Operations Leader

Motion Recruitment Partners LLC is in search of a Logistics Operations Leader for a direct hire opportunity.

The Logistics Operations Leader will oversee a team of procurement specialists and planners, ensuring the effective execution of the material strategy to support operational goals. This role is crucial for enhancing customer satisfaction through timely delivery and product excellence, while also aligning with corporate targets for revenue, profitability, and working capital management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the procurement of all necessary materials, supplies, and services to meet operational demands.
  • Lead the Supply Chain team in analyzing material requirements to optimize inventory levels and financial commitments.
  • Identify and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to reduce costs and improve inventory turnover.
  • Maintain supplier performance metrics focusing on quality, delivery reliability, and pricing stability.
  • Evaluate market trends and collaborate with vendors to recommend optimal supply sources.
  • Enhance operational planning processes to ensure a consistent demand flow while maximizing working capital.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proficient in data analysis from diverse sources.
  • Experience in leading Operational Excellence, Lean, or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheet applications (Excel) are essential.
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP, is highly preferred.
  • Ability to convert data into actionable insights for Finance, Sales, and Operations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities with a focus on quick resolution.
  • Understanding of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of eight years of related experience.
  • APICS Certification is strongly preferred.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Supply Chain Team, including all procurement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement guidelines and standards.
  • Collaborate with global teams to enhance local sourcing strategies and share best practices.
  • Measure and communicate the impact of sourcing and purchasing activities, highlighting areas for improvement.
  • Set and manage departmental goals focusing on inventory control and supplier performance.
  • Lead the development and execution of Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and pricing.
  • Analyze material needs and initiate purchasing based on forecasts and requests.
  • Continuously assess supplier performance and adherence to standards.
  • Facilitate communication between suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues.
