Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze RFPs to ascertain the scope of work and estimate requirements.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
  • Prepare estimates to support proposal development and bid submissions, particularly for complex pricing sheets.
  • Identify labor, material, construction equipment, subcontract, and other direct costs for self-performed construction activities.
  • Evaluate crew structures for composite rate development across various labor markets.
  • Become proficient in InEight Estimating software.
  • Align bid packages with proposal requirements before distribution to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Review Quote Comparison Sheets after receiving subcontractor and vendor pricing.
  • Participate in the construction execution plan, ensuring the estimate serves as the actual construction plan upon project award.
  • Assist the Lead Estimator in risk identification and cost analysis.
  • Engage in the estimate review process with both internal and external team members.
  • Support customer presentation preparation as needed.
  • Analyze past project costs to identify successes and areas for improvement.
  • Facilitate project initiation by refining the estimate post-contract award in collaboration with business, project controls, and production teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering/Technology, or equivalent extensive work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy industrial construction.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
