Role Overview:
We are seeking experienced Chemical/Process Engineers who possess a strong foundation in construction estimation. The ideal candidate will have the ability to interpret contracts from both engineering and construction viewpoints, leading an estimating team for new industrial initiatives.

Your primary responsibility will be to manage the estimating process for assigned projects, collaborating within a structured environment to create and finalize project estimates from conception through to completion, utilizing design-build, EPC, and conceptual estimating methodologies.

Candidate Profile:
We are looking for individuals with a robust background in engineering or construction, particularly with knowledge of process and chemical systems relevant to industrial facilities. This role offers an opportunity to take a leadership position in the Mechanical aspects of FEED, EPC, and Design/Build projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive discipline-specific estimates for large-scale, intricate industrial projects.
  • Interpret contract specifications and requirements, addressing any technical challenges during the bid preparation phase.
  • Understand project construction methodologies, including best practices and geographical considerations.
  • Ensure design deliverables are met according to the project schedule.
  • Verify that quantities and deliverables align with estimate requirements.
  • Collaborate with the design team to optimize construction costs through effective cross-discipline communication.
  • Mentor and train junior estimators.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, including new equipment and methodologies.
  • Utilize historical cost data for benchmarking estimates.
  • Regularly communicate with senior management regarding critical issues and estimate assumptions.
  • Lead detailed estimate reviews and prepare necessary reports for unique bid items.

Qualifications:
BS degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in estimating or construction leadership roles, particularly in chemical processes or similar fields.

Leadership experience is preferred, with a desire to advance to a role leading estimating teams for complex industrial projects.

Experience in chemical/process engineering or construction of industrial facilities with chemical processing systems is essential; familiarity with Pre-Feed, FEED, D/B, or EPC projects is advantageous.

If lacking a degree, a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Engineering/Construction Operations, Field Engineering, or Project Management is required, with a solid understanding of project management from design to construction and estimating functions.

Proficiency in estimating software, such as Hard Dollar or similar tools, is necessary, along with strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.

Additional Requirements:
Ability to work productively and meet deadlines. Effective communication and interaction with supervisors and team members are essential. Commitment to safety and adherence to instructions and policies is required. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
