Role Summary:

To enhance our project bidding and execution capabilities, we seek experienced Chemical/Process Engineers proficient in construction estimates and adept at interpreting contracts from both engineering and construction viewpoints. This role will lead an estimating team focused on new industrial initiatives.

Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the estimating process for assigned projects, collaborating in a complex environment to create and finalize project estimates from inception to completion, utilizing design-build, EPC, and conceptual estimating methodologies.

We are looking for candidates with a robust background in engineering and/or construction, possessing knowledge and experience in process and chemical systems relevant to facility operations, and who are interested in taking a leadership role in the mechanical aspects of FEED, EPC, and Design/Build projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive discipline-specific estimates for large, intricate industrial projects.
  • Analyze and interpret contract specifications, noting unique or exceptional items, and address technical challenges during bid preparation.
  • Understand project construction methodologies, including best practices and geographical considerations.
  • Ensure that design deliverables meet the required timelines.
  • Verify that quantities and deliverables align with estimate requirements.
  • Collaborate with the design team to optimize construction costs through effective cross-discipline communication.
  • Mentor and train junior estimators.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, including new equipment and methodologies.
  • Utilize historical cost data for benchmarking estimates and conduct site visits to understand construction methods.
  • Regularly communicate with senior management regarding critical issues and estimate assumptions.
  • Organize and lead estimate review sessions.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of engineered equipment, subcontractor, and permanent material pricing.
  • Prepare special reports for unique bid items or conditions.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field is required.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating or construction leadership roles, particularly in chemical processes or similar fields, is essential.

Leadership experience is preferred, along with a desire to advance your career by leading estimating teams on complex industrial projects.

Experience in chemical/process engineering or the construction of industrial facilities with chemical processing systems is crucial, including familiarity with Pre-Feed, FEED, Design/Build, or EPC projects.

If a degree is not held, a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Engineering/Construction in Operations, Field Engineering, or Project Management is required, with a strong grasp of project management from design to construction completion.

Proficiency in estimating software, such as Hard Dollar or similar tools, is expected.

Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary, with the ability to lead and facilitate teams to meet deadlines.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required.
