Position Summary:
This role is a specialized engineering position focused on driving technical product innovation and transforming creative concepts into viable manufacturing solutions. The incumbent will also provide project support to senior engineers, acting as a mentor to gain valuable experience.
This position is pivotal in steering technical engineering solutions for new product concepts, ensuring alignment with financial objectives, timelines, and compliance with safety and quality standards.Additionally, this role will lead brand-level value engineering initiatives and advanced product quality planning.
The engineer will serve as a technical liaison with Operations and collaborate with the cross-functional New Product Development Team to facilitate the smooth progression of new product concepts through the development lifecycle. This position also supports team-level corrective action initiatives administered by Continuous Process Improvement (CPI).Key Responsibilities:
- Provide constructive feedback to design teams and project managers during the initial concept phase to assess the feasibility of proposed toys.
- Assist in the development of innovative mechanisms to meet toy functionality objectives.
- Support the creation of prototype models as required.
- Develop engineering Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Act as the primary contact for development houses, tooling, and manufacturing plants, offering design guidance as needed.
- Aid in translating the design vision for toys into technical specifications suitable for development houses, tooling, and manufacturing plants.
- Contribute to defining product functions through Functional Specifications.- Conduct routine engineering tasks related to various processes in product development.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the toy or consumer goods sector.
- Solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles and practices.
- General knowledge of toys, including automation, tooling, materials, molding requirements, and logistics.
- Familiarity with plastic production processes and assembly techniques for plastic products.
- Knowledge of various raw materials, including textiles and plastics, along with manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or Creo).
- Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and the ability to interpret results.
- Understanding of statistics and probabilities.
- Awareness of industry norms and regulations (e.g., ASTM and ISO).
Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this position is between $78,000 and $98,000. This range reflects the projected hiring range; however, the final salary will be determined based on the candidate's location, skills, and experience.
