Position Summary:

This role is a specialized engineering position focused on advancing technical product innovation and transforming imaginative concepts into viable manufacturing solutions. You will also provide guidance and support to junior engineers, fostering their growth and expertise.

This position is pivotal in driving engineering solutions for new product ideas, ensuring compliance with financial objectives, timelines, and established safety and quality standards.

Additionally, you will lead value engineering initiatives and advanced product quality planning at the brand level.

As a technical liaison, you will collaborate with Operations and the cross-functional New Product Development Team to facilitate the seamless progression of new concepts through the development lifecycle.

This role also contributes to team-level corrective action initiatives as part of Continuous Process Improvement (CPI).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide constructive feedback to design teams and project managers during the initial concept phase to assess the feasibility of proposed toys.
- Aid in the development of innovative mechanisms to meet toy functionality objectives. Assist in creating prototype models as necessary.
- Develop engineering Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Serve as the primary contact for development houses, tooling, and manufacturing plants, offering design guidance as needed.

- Assist in translating the design vision into technical specifications for development partners and production facilities.

- Help define product functionality through Functional Specifications.
- Conduct routine engineering tasks related to various product development processes.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the toy or consumer goods sector.
- A solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles and practices.
- General knowledge of toys, including automation, tooling, materials, molding requirements, and logistics.
- Familiarity with plastic production processes and assembly techniques for plastic products.
- Knowledge of various raw materials, including textiles and plastics, along with manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software (such as SolidWorks or Creo).
- Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and the ability to interpret results.
- Understanding of statistical methods and probability.
- Awareness of industry standards and regulations related to toys (ASTM and ISO).

Compensation:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $78,000 to $98,000. This range is indicative of the expected hiring range, with actual salary determined by factors such as location, skills, and experience.
