Job Overview

The Chief Fundraising Officer serves as a strategic collaborator with the Co-CEOs, leading the development and execution of a robust, multi-faceted fundraising strategy. This role is essential in managing donor relationships, initiating innovative fundraising campaigns, and establishing a streamlined fundraising framework for the organization. This position reports directly to the Co-CEO and offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and oversee fundraising objectives, crafting a long-term strategy to secure new grants and contributions while aligning with the organization’s core values.
  • Work closely with leadership to remain informed about organizational goals, identify program support opportunities, and effectively convey the organization’s vision and strategic direction to various stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive fundraising infrastructure, including donor management systems and best practices for effective communication and record-keeping.
  • Supervise the Foundations + Grants Specialist to ensure the preparation of compelling content, timely grant applications, and adherence to reporting requirements.
  • Conduct ongoing research to identify potential funders and maintain a diverse pipeline of donors for future support.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of additional fundraising initiatives, such as individual giving and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Facilitate collaboration across teams and partner with program leaders to communicate progress and trends through effective philanthropic communications.
  • Enhance visibility for the Co-CEOs among target audiences and represent the organization at community and philanthropic events.
  • Share fundraising goals and updates with key stakeholders to cultivate a culture of philanthropy and continuous improvement in meeting fundraising objectives.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s mission and values, with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging.
  • At least 10 years of experience in professional fundraising roles, with a proven track record in team leadership, relationship building with funders, and direct solicitation.
  • Understanding of how to integrate principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging into fundraising strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising practices, including donor database management and grant reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate with finance teams to manage budgets and develop financial projections.
  • Strong project management skills with a focus on resourcefulness and execution.
  • Familiarity with key philanthropic communities, particularly those focused on sexual and reproductive health.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of connecting with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership abilities to inspire teams toward shared objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with fundraising databases such as RaisersEdge or Salesforce.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.

Requirements

A valid California Driver’s License and current automobile insurance are required for any driving duties associated with the role.
