Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D. with 2 years of experience in human services administration; or an equivalent related Associate's Degree; or a combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses:
- Valid Driver's License or proof of equivalent mobility.
Position Summary:
This role is dedicated to assisting clients by identifying community resources and providing tailored information regarding their needs. Responsibilities include:
- Delivering information to participants and assessing eligibility for public assistance programs.
- Maintaining and organizing related documentation and files.
- Identifying challenges and proposing solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts complex case management activities for assigned cases, from initiation to resolution, including determining eligibility, reviewing compliance with program requirements, and providing referrals to relevant agencies.
- Evaluates client eligibility for various income maintenance programs, including medical, cash, and food assistance, through initial interviews and information gathering.
- Monitors and updates case files to reflect changes in client status.
- Calculates payment discrepancies, establishes claims, and initiates fraud investigations as necessary.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Decision-Making Authority:
Incumbents are accountable for achieving clearly defined objectives and applying standard operating procedures. They may also provide guidance to other staff members.
Supervision Received:
Employees operate under general direction, applying established procedures to specific situations, and may train or guide temporary or regular staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of human/social services fundamentals and human behavior.
- Strong time management abilities.
- Proficient language, literacy, and writing skills.
- Familiarity with applicable appraisal methods and principles.
- Effective interviewing techniques and customer service principles.
- Ability to manage emotionally charged situations calmly.
- Recordkeeping and computer skills.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with various stakeholders.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
This position primarily involves sedentary work in an office environment, with occasional lifting of 15-20 pounds. Frequent use of hands for filing and computer work is required. Occasional travel may be necessary, and work interruptions can occur. Employees may encounter individuals in emotional distress.
