Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D. with 2 years of experience in human services administration; or an equivalent Associate's Degree; or a combination of education and experience that meets these requirements.
Required Licenses:
Typically, incumbents in this role require:
- A valid Driver's License or proof of equivalent mobility.
This role is essential in assisting clients by identifying available community services and resources while providing specialized information tailored to their needs. Responsibilities may include delivering information to participants, assessing eligibility for public assistance programs, managing and organizing relevant files, and troubleshooting issues to provide effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Conduct complex case management activities for assigned cases from initiation to resolution, which includes independently determining eligibility for programs, reviewing case files in accordance with established requirements, and providing referrals to relevant agencies and community resources.

Assess client eligibility for various income maintenance programs, including medical, cash, food, and emergency assistance, based on standard guidelines; conduct initial interviews to gather pertinent information regarding client needs and financial situations.
3.
Maintain and update case files to accurately reflect changes in case status.
4.
Calculate overpayments and underpayments, establish claims, and impose sanctions as necessary. Identify and initiate fraud investigations as required.
5.
Perform additional duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Decision-Making Authority:
Incumbents are generally accountable for achieving clearly defined objectives, applying standard operating procedures, and may provide guidance to other staff members.
Supervision and Guidance:
Incumbents utilize established procedures and standards to address specific situations, working under general direction to achieve objectives. They may also mentor and train temporary or regular employees, troubleshoot issues based on experience, and instruct others in work methods and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of the fundamentals of human/social services and human behavior.
- Strong time management abilities.
- Intermediate proficiency in language, literacy, and writing.
- Familiarity with applicable appraisal methods and principles in the assigned area.
- Interviewing skills.
- Customer service principles.
- Ability to remain composed in emotionally charged situations.
- Recordkeeping principles and practices.
- Proficiency in computers and related software applications.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues and the public.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Occasional lifting of 15-20 pounds may be required. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation is necessary due to extensive filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment utilized may include computers, calculators, telephones, and copiers/scanners. Occasional travel may be necessary. Frequent work interruptions may occur, and there may be pressure associated with project deadlines. Interactions may involve individuals in emotionally charged situations.
