Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D. with 2 years of experience in human services administration; or an equivalent related Associate's Degree; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

Nature of Work:

This role is dedicated to assisting clients by identifying community services and resources while providing specialized information tailored to clients' needs. Responsibilities may encompass delivering information to participants; assessing eligibility for public assistance programs; managing and coordinating the collection and upkeep of relevant files; identifying challenges and proposing solutions.

Essential Work Functions (Illustrative only):

Conducts complex case support activities for an assigned caseload, from initiation to closure, which includes independently determining program eligibility; initiating court actions; reviewing case file information in accordance with program requirements and mandates related to individual cases; providing referrals to relevant agencies and community resources; and/or performing other related tasks. Completes funding for all foster care children.

Evaluates client eligibility for income maintenance programs, including all medical, cash, food, and emergency programs based on established program requirements & guidelines; conducting initial interviews and gathering pertinent information to assess client needs, status, and financial situation. Prioritizes and addresses a high volume of client inquiries through various formats and in person.

Monitors, maintains, and updates case files to reflect changes in case status.

Calculates over/under payments, establishes claims, and imposes sanctions when necessary. Identifies and initiates fraud referrals and investigations.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Level of Decisions:

Incumbents are generally accountable for the outcomes and performance of clearly defined objectives, applying standard operating policies and procedures, and may be responsible for providing work direction for staff.

Direction Received/Provided:

Incumbents apply procedures and standards to specific situations, working under general direction regarding how objectives and goals are achieved. They may guide and train temporary and/or regular employees; troubleshoot problems and issues based on relevant experience; and instruct others in work methods and procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

May occasionally lift 15-20 pounds. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation due to a high volume of filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computers, calculators, telephones, cameras, and copiers/scanners/fax machines. Occasional out-of-town travel may occur. Work interruptions are frequent. There may be some pressure associated with project or activity deadlines. Additionally, the role may involve dealing with individuals who may be emotionally charged. Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
