Key Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing, Minnesota, is seeking a dedicated full-time General Orthopedic Surgeon (1.0 FTE) to become part of a well-respected, physician-led multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will focus on general orthopedic surgery and demonstrate a strong interest in providing a comprehensive range of orthopedic services.
This position offers the opportunity to be part of an established and flourishing orthopedic surgery practice, allowing for growth within a community-focused setting. We are looking for a candidate who is eager to deliver a wide variety of general orthopedic surgery options, ranging from acute musculoskeletal injuries with both operative and non-operative care to total joint replacements of various types. A collaborative approach to healthcare as a team leader is essential, with potential leadership roles available if desired.
The successful candidate will work alongside a team of general and specialty-trained orthopedic surgeons in Southeastern Minnesota, practicing in a well-organized level 4 trauma center. Our skilled and dedicated team of surgeons, physician assistants, nurses, radiology staff, rehabilitation specialists, and OR personnel create a safe and welcoming environment for our patients. A favorable work/life balance is achievable with shared trauma call responsibilities among orthopedic partners.
Red Wing serves as a central location with outreach and support provided to surrounding areas. Additionally, there is easy referral access to regional centers for complex cases. The community offers a rich environment for both professional and personal life.
Qualified candidates may have the opportunity for an academic appointment with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, if interested.
Practice Highlights:
- Comprehensive orthopedic care supported by Mayo Clinic and subspecialty assistance for more complex cases.
- Clinic locations include multiple sites in the region.
- Facilities include 4 operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and 1 C-section operating room.
- Elective surgeries are scheduled Monday through Friday until 4:00 PM.
- One surgical team is on call during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
- The OR team consists of skilled professionals, including RNs, Surgical Techs, and CRNAs, ensuring high-quality care for orthopedic patients.
- Collaboration with a strong primary care group and support staff enhances the orthopedic program.
- Access to advanced equipment and resources for most general orthopedic procedures.
- Surgical cases range from minor soft tissue repairs to major bone fractures and total joint replacements.
- Rehabilitation services are available on-site and in nearby clinics.
- A robust Emergency Department is equipped to handle fracture and dislocation reductions.
- The facility serves a semi-rural community with a wide patient care area.
- Exceptional quality outcomes are achieved in all care provided, including joint replacement outcomes.
Requirements:
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Eligible for medical licensure in Minnesota.
- Medical staff will oversee advanced practice clinicians.
- Medical staff may provide outreach services as part of their role.
- Teaching clinical staff, students, or residents is a fundamental aspect of our Medical Education philosophy and is expected of all medical staff.
