Job Summary:

The EHR Specialist II plays a critical role in supporting patient care and legal/audit processes by accurately and efficiently filing, retrieving, prepping, scanning, and indexing medical records into the OnBase electronic document management system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine pages, verify patient identification and bar codes, and appropriately batch documents for scanning and indexing.
  • Accurately scan and index medical records, ensuring attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the EHR Operations Manager to ensure seamless integration of medical records into the OnBase system.
  • Utilize strong computer skills, including MS Office tools, to efficiently manage and maintain accurate records.
  • Apply knowledge of JCAHO requirements, federal and state guidelines, and health information systems to ensure compliance and data integrity.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in an AHIMA-approved program in Health Information Technology preferred.
  • One year of general office experience, preferably in a medical record department or clinical setting.
  • RHIT certification preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as disease processes.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:

The EHR Specialist II will work in a fast-paced environment, with occasional irregular hours. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information is essential.
