Overview:

MV Transportation is in search of a Fleet Operations Maintenance Leader to oversee the maintenance activities during their designated shift. This role encompasses preventive maintenance and repair of a substantial fleet of buses and sedans, management of all maintenance personnel during their assigned shift, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations, overseeing the maintenance program and reports, as well as monitoring work orders and ensuring proper completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager, other Maintenance Supervisors, and designated Maintenance Leads to plan and/or resume vehicle maintenance during the assigned shift. Maintain effective communication with Operations to promptly respond to road calls. Dispatch mechanics and organize repairs efficiently.
  • Review work orders for precision and ensure production timelines are adhered to. Prioritize safety, quality, and efficiency while estimating productivity times and adjusting shift employees' production schedules as necessary.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with team members to communicate, prioritize, assign, and clarify tasks related to vehicle inspection, servicing, repairs, and cleaning.
  • Supervise Maintenance Department staff and their productivity to guarantee timely and accurate completion of job assignments and cleanup activities, with follow-up inspections. Clearly articulate staff expectations consistently.
  • Monitor and record employee work hours and attendance, coordinating with the Maintenance Manager to review, approve, and schedule employee time off while balancing the need for overtime.
  • Train and guide employees on shift in all aspects of vehicle service and repair, including but not limited to basic repairs, air conditioning, electrical work, major component rebuilds, and vehicle cleaning operations.
  • Initiate and document necessary disciplinary actions and commendations in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Analyze and assist in resolving work-related issues and diagnosing equipment malfunctions during the shift.
  • Generate and track work orders assigned to staff in the Fleet Focus Maintenance Management System, updating daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, communicating, interpreting, and enforcing compliance with administrative and departmental policies, operational procedures, uniform standards, safety regulations, cleanup procedures, and quality control processes to ensure efficient daily operations.
  • Responsible for retrieving, issuing, and logging parts and supplies required for use by shift employees.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience or training in the repair and preventive maintenance of fleet equipment.
  • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience or a combination of training and experience.
  • ASE certification relevant to the job classification. If not certified, must be willing to obtain certification.
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience with teams of six (6) or more.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and MS Outlook.
  • Must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Inspection License.
  • Must hold a valid California Driver's license.
