Fleet Operations Supervisor
Job Overview
MV Transportation is in search of a Fleet Operations Supervisor to oversee the maintenance activities during their designated shift. This role encompasses the preventative upkeep and repair of a substantial fleet of vehicles, including buses and sedans, while managing all maintenance personnel during their assigned hours. The supervisor will ensure that all contractual obligations are fulfilled, oversee the maintenance program and its reporting, as well as track work orders and manage them appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
The Fleet Operations Supervisor will:
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and other Supervisors to schedule and resume vehicle maintenance tasks during the shift.
- Maintain effective communication with Operations to ensure timely responses to road calls.
- Dispatch mechanics and organize repairs efficiently.
- Review work orders for precision and ensure production timelines are adhered to, prioritizing safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate priorities and assign tasks related to vehicle inspection, servicing, and repairs.
- Supervise the Maintenance Department staff to guarantee the accurate and timely completion of job assignments.
- Monitor and record employee attendance and work hours, coordinating with the Maintenance Manager to manage time-off requests.
- Train and guide employees on all aspects of vehicle service and repair, including basic repairs and major component overhauls.
- Document and recommend disciplinary actions and commendations as necessary.
- Analyze and assist in resolving work-related issues and diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
- Generate and track work orders in the Fleet Focus Maintenance Management System, updating reports as required.
- Assist in developing and enforcing compliance with departmental policies, safety standards, and quality control processes.
- Manage the retrieval, issuance, and logging of parts and supplies needed for shift operations.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five to ten years of experience in fleet equipment repair and maintenance.
- At least five years of supervisory experience or a combination of training and experience.
- ASE certification relevant to the job classification; willingness to obtain certification if not currently certified.
- Prior experience leading teams of six or more personnel.
- Proficient in computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Possession of a California Motor Vehicle Inspection License.
- A valid California Driver's license is required.
