Position Overview

The Arlington County Treasurer's Office is on the lookout for a Financial Systems Analyst II to join our Technology Unit, with two vacancies available.

As a vital part of our office, the Technology Unit is dedicated to enhancing operational efficiencies, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and driving innovation. Our team is responsible for delivering comprehensive analysis and reporting that exceeds the capabilities of vendor-supplied systems, providing support for key systems such as the iNovah cashiering system, and offering end-user assistance for both software and hardware issues. We also serve as the primary liaison between the Treasurer's Office and the County's IT department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting data, statistical, and quantitative analysis, utilizing predictive modeling techniques to bolster the department's data-driven decision-making objectives;
  • Leading initiatives for data quality assurance and proposing solutions to rectify errors or inconsistencies;
  • Evaluating division-specific IT needs and resources, recommending enhancements and process improvements related to business operations;
  • Acting as project manager for smaller IT initiatives or as team lead for larger projects;
  • Designing, configuring, testing, implementing, and managing software and/or web-based applications and system security;
  • Delivering training, documentation, and technical support.
Selection Criteria

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, or a related field; and
  • Experience in analyzing business requirements, particularly in the context of automated technology, including some experience managing smaller projects or leading larger initiatives.
Substitution: Additional relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas may be given preference:
  • Python, R, and/or SQL;
  • Business statistics & data visualization using tools such as Tableau or Power BI;
  • Microsoft Access and Excel, or similar tools for data analysis;
  • Public administration and/or tax administration; and/or
  • General knowledge of accounting principles, including governmental accounting.
Special Requirements

Background Check: A pre-employment background check will be conducted for all selected candidates, which may include checks of criminal records, driving records, education, professional licensure, and credit history. Candidates may be required to authorize the County to obtain their background information.

Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position requires full-time office attendance.
