Position Overview:
The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a dedicated Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team within the Department of Physics. This role is essential in managing a variety of financial operations and ensuring the integrity of financial data.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough monthly reconciliations of financial statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies between departmental records and the general ledger.
- Collaborate with colleagues to clarify and address issues impacting account balances.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including budget versus actual analyses and expenditure summaries.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations aimed at enhancing budget management and financial efficiency.
- Oversee budget accounting, payroll data, and fiscal procedures, ensuring seamless financial operations through effective management of budget transfers and cost reallocations.
- Propose and assist in the development of innovative accounting procedures to improve financial processes.
- Support the preparation of the annual financial report by gathering and organizing necessary data, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in accounting or a similar capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred candidates will possess four years of experience in accounting or a related role, with a strong background in accounting and budgeting.

Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with strong analytical capabilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining confidentiality.

Working Conditions:
- Standard office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard.
- A hybrid work schedule may be available following the probation period.
