Small Business Development Center Director

Eastern Oregon University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). This is a full-time, 12-month position that offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities- Counsel small business clients and assist in developing strategies for improvement and growth.
- Plan, organize, and direct the operations of the SBDC, including designing educational programs and identifying problem areas within small businesses.
- Develop and implement grant budgets, monitor expenditures, and prepare reports to ensure compliance with budgetary and grant guidelines.
- Supervise the performance of SBDC administrative staff, volunteers, advisers, and instructors, including training, work assignment, and performance evaluation.
- Analyze business development needs in the college's service district, initiate surveys and needs assessments, and make presentations to business and industry leaders.
- Assist the State Director in developing statewide private and public sector initiatives to increase and improve services to the small business community.
- Work with local business leaders, business organizations, Chambers of Commerce, community leaders, and economic development agencies to promote business development and related services.
- Consult with area bankers, economic and community development agencies, and local/regional/state agencies to identify and provide technical business assistance.
- Report activities and essential information regarding Center operations to the host institution.
- Masters degree in Business Administration or equivalent degree or experience in a closely related field.
- Three years of experience in educational program management, including knowledge of principles and methods for promoting programs and services.
- Three years of experience owning and/or operating a for-profit small business, including financial planning, marketing, accounting, system analysis, personnel management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Competent in developing and maintaining effective and positive working relationships, listening, writing, and verbal communication skills, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance principles and practices, advising and counseling practices, and various instructional methodologies.
- Competent in budget/resource management, people leadership and supervision, and program development and process improvement.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking, reading, and writing ability.
- Post-secondary teaching experience.
- Business advising or coaching experience.
- Competent in empathizing with clients and translating business experience into practical advice.
