Talent Acquisition Specialist

Salary Range: $57,700 - $72,100

At Midland States Bank, the base salary is one aspect of our Total Rewards program. The exact compensation is influenced by various factors including education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This role also provides additional compensation through short-term incentives (such as bonuses and/or commissions) and may include long-term incentives (like stock awards). Benefits for this position encompass comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave, and generous paid time off. Total Rewards also feature banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, a 401K plan with company match, and may include opportunities to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Position Overview

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is tasked with executing effective recruitment strategies to attract and select high-quality candidates for Midland States Bank. The essential responsibilities of the Recruiter include, but are not limited to, sourcing, interviewing, ad placement, conducting pre-screening background checks, evaluating candidates, and extending and finalizing offers.

This individual will employ a variety of sourcing techniques, including cold-calling, networking, internal/external job postings, social media engagement, interviewing, and assessments, ensuring that all candidates have an exceptional experience throughout the recruitment process. They will act in a consultative capacity to both hiring managers and candidates regarding the overall selection and hiring process, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent for specific roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, source, and screen candidates, resumes, and job applications.
  • Conduct interviews utilizing various reliable recruitment and selection tools and methods to filter candidates professionally and promptly.
  • Maintain an understanding of business line performance expectations and effectively apply this knowledge to execute sourcing strategies.
  • Influence the sourcing and hiring of high-quality talent by integrating diversity and inclusion into the recruitment process.
  • Source and recruit diverse candidates through various networks and social media to reach both passive and active job seekers.
  • Serve as a point of contact and cultivate influential relationships with candidates to enhance the recruitment pipeline and successful hires.
  • Identify recruitment trends and needs through ongoing internal and external monitoring.
  • Research candidates and job positions.
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, cold calling, and referrals.
  • Proactively collaborate with universities, organizations, or professional trade groups to foster inclusive and diverse relationships.
  • Gather feedback and provide constructive feedback to candidates to aid in their professional development.
  • Ensure internal equity is considered when finalizing recommended compensation.
  • Assist hiring managers in utilizing assessment tools and behavioral interviews.
  • Regularly meet with hiring managers to lead intake meetings, calibration discussions, and ensure open dialogue regarding recruitment strategies and candidate pipelines.
  • Develop and deliver training to hiring managers and business unit leaders on talent acquisition topics, trends, and recruitment processes.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Hiring Managers and HR throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
  • Work effectively in a highly collaborative, matrixed organization where relationship building is crucial for success.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • This role may require occasional travel for training and team meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the recruitment field.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working with an applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in proactively sourcing and cold-calling both active and passive candidates.
  • Experience with various sourcing methodologies and social recruiting strategies, as well as building purposeful networking relationships using resume databases, boolean search techniques, and professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action requirements related to hiring practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, counseling, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with external recruiters is preferred.
